The Magical Weapons of Fencing

The power of the weapons is legendary in lore. Magicians, kings, princes, soldiers and other brave souls were exposed to the art of fighting. Those who mastered the weapons prevailed against their enemies.

    Epee is the descendant of the dueling sword and was long used for settling disputes. Epee is similar in length to the other fencing weapons, but is heavier and has a larger bell guard. The fencer's entire body is target. Touches are scored with the point of the blade.

    Foil is the oldest weapon and was designed to kill, therefore the target area includes the vital organs. It does not include the arms, neck, head and legs. Fencers must wear metallic vests where touches are scored with the point of the blade.

Saber is the modern version of the slashing cavalry sword. The target is from the hips to the top of the head, simulating the target areas of cavalry riders on horseback. Saberist also wear metallic jackets. Touches are scored by point and blade.
